FISHGUARD MUSICAL THEATRE SOCIETY

Fishguard Musical Theatre Society was formed November 2016.  Our aim is to use the wonderful talent of Fishguard and surrounding to perform high standard productions and raise funds for local charities et. Our first target was to raise funds for our community theatre, while having fun and developing skills and becoming an established theatre group in Fishguard.

Theatr Gwaun was built in 1878 as a Temperance Hall, converted on the 1920's to a cinema and a multi arts venue in the 1990s. 2017 saw the theatre being asset transferred to the community.

Our first Musical "Whistle down the Wind" was a real success. We had full houses and standing ovations. We then performed "Magic of the musicals" a wonderful showcase of the best of Broadway and the Westend here in Pembs. we acheived full houses once again and made thousands for Theatr Gwaun. Our third production was a real community collaboration. Joining with the award winning Goodwick Brass Band we performed the Fantastic show "Brassed Off". Yet again sell out shows and audiences leaving saying comments like "That was the best how I have ever seen at this theatre in 15 years". This show was were we met our target of funds raised for Theatr Gwaun and we needed to re-think. We had grown in reputation and found our members grew and grew and we now sit at over 70 members and have out grown Thear Gwaun. This meant finding a new venue to host a cast of 70 plus and we moved into our new home Ysgol Bro Gwaun. Here we will be performing Oliver in April and we are very excited. We are also taking the wonderful success of Brassed off to Mwldan Theatre 7th 8th 9th November. We welcome all new members, we support all abilities and are a fully inclusive group. We have multi generations sharing the stage and growing in ability and confidence together.
